                 Muthupet Mangrove forest is located in south of Tamil Nadu, India. It is 6803 hectares (Source: wikipedia). The rivers flowing through this forest are Paminiyaru, koraiyaru, kilai thaangi yaaru, Marakka koraiyaru. They all forms a lagoon before reaching Bay of bengal. This lagoon end up with Kodiyakarai (Known as point calimere). 

Kodiyakarai is known for its forests. In kodiyakarai, "Point Calimere Wildlife and Bird Sanctuary" is located and it is around 21 square kilo meters. The sanctuary was created in 1967 to protect the endangered species. This place is featured in the famous tamil novel "Ponniyin selvan". It has the temple that has been worshiped by Nayanmars.
